AstraZeneca Pharma India Limited receives a stay on NPPA’s demand notice regarding overcharging for Betaloc-50 tablets

AstraZeneca Pharma India Limited announced that the Hon'ble High Court of Delhi has stayed the operation of a demand notice dated July 27, 2026, issued by the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) alleging overcharging for Betaloc-50 tablets, until a hearing on February 10, 2027. The NPPA alleges that AstraZeneca Pharma India Ltd. sold the medication at a price exceeding the ceiling set under the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013, between June and July 2016, resulting in a demand for recovery of overcharged amounts plus interest; as part of the stay, the company is required to deposit 15% of the amount mentioned in the Demand Notice with the Registrar General of the Delhi High Court.
