NIFTY ticks up, Nifty FMCG remains on investors' radar, gaining 1.51%

The key equity barometers traded with modest gains in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 22874-22657. Nifty FMCG, Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty IT shares rose, while Nifty Auto shares declined.

At 10:45 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, inched up 529.59 points or 0.72% to 73,775.62. The Nifty 50 index posted modest gains of 151.25 points or 0.67% to 22,850.10.

The broader market underperformed the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index edged higher by 0.34% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index added 0.28%.

The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 2798 shares advanced and 1755 shares retreated. A total of 256 shares were unchanged.

Nifty FMCG index rallied 1.51% to 43528. The index has lost 5.27% in last one month and posted steep losses of 23.58% over last one year. Hind. Unilever, inching higher 2.76%, led the gainers followed by United Spirits, up 2.44% and Britannia Inds., adding 2.04%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 13 are reporting gains today.

Nifty PSU Bank index rose 1.02% to 8217. The index has edged up 1.34% in last one month and inched up 0.57% over last one year. Union Bank (I), edging up 2.42%, led the gainers followed by Indian Bank, gaining 2.13% and Punjab Natl.Bank, inching higher 1.92%, respectively. All 12 constituents are advancing today.

Nifty Auto index inched down 0.38%. The index has posted modest losses of 3.08% in last one month and moved lower by 5.31% over last one year. Bosch, edging lower 1.87%, led the losers followed by Samvardh. Mothe., losing 1.52% and Bharat Forge, down 1.24%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 13 are reporting loss today.

Out of 14 sectoral indices on NSE, 12 are in green today. Nifty FMCG index has plunged 5.27% in last one month and has registered heavy losses of 23.58% over last year. Nifty Auto index has recorded steep losses of 3.08% in last one month and is lower by 5.31% over last one year.

From NIFTY50 index, Vodafone Idea, Yes Bank AND Ola Electric are leading in terms of volumes today, clocking turnover of 700.16 lakh shares, 561.56 lakh shares and 1112.55 lakh shares respectively.

Asian markets traded slightly higher on Thursday. China’s Shanghai composite is down 0.24%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is marginally lower by 0.02%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is higher by 1.19%.

NIFTY50 Nov-26 futures are in discount of 80.90 points today.
