NIFTY remains flat, Nifty Pharma features among key market indices, rising 1.31%

The key equity barometers traded with minor gains in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 23411-23315. Nifty Pharma, Nifty Healthcare Index and Nifty FMCG shares advanced, while Nifty IT and Nifty Metal shares fell.

At 10:45 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, up 408.82 points to 74,703.78. The Nifty 50 index added 18.65 points or 0.08% to 23,365.05.

The broader market underperformed the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index remained flat and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index posted modest losses of 0.04%.

The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 2389 shares rose and 2339 shares declined. A total of 296 shares were unchanged.

Nifty Pharma index rallied 1.31% to 27059. The index has edged up 1.32% in last one month and registered sharp gains of 18.32% over last one year. Wockhardt, advancing 5.08%, led the gainers followed by Mankind Pharma, up 3.80% and Torrent Pharma., edging up 3.43%, respectively. Out of 20 index constituents, 16 are reporting gains today.

Nifty Healthcare Index index climbed 1.10% to 16797. The index has moved higher by 0.91% in last one month and rose 11.84% over last one year. Mankind Pharma, gaining 3.80%, led the gainers followed by Torrent Pharma., inching higher 3.43% and Glenmark Pharma., adding 3.30%, respectively. Out of 20 index constituents, 15 are reporting gains today.

Nifty IT index inched down 0.40%. The index has drifted lower by 4.50% in last one month and tanked 21.48% over last one year. Oracle Fin.Serv., easing 4.38%, led the losers followed by Infosys, down 1.28% and Mphasis, edging lower 1.21%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 6 are reporting loss today.

Sectoral performance is mixed, with 7 of 14 indices trading in the green. Nifty Pharma index is higher by 1.32% in last one month and has surged 18.32% over last year. Nifty IT index has recorded steep losses of 4.50% in last one month and is sharply lower by 21.48% over last one year.

From NIFTY50 index, JP Power Ven., Vodafone Idea AND IFCI are leading in terms of volumes today, clocking turnover of 1739.27 lakh shares, 1166.35 lakh shares and 1740.33 lakh shares respectively.

Asian markets jumped on Monday. China’s Shanghai composite is slightly higher by 0.45%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is modestly higher by 0.26%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is firmly higher by 1.38%.

NIFTY50 Sep-26 futures are in discount of 22.35 points today.
