Computer services maintained their position, representing more than two-thirds of India’s aggregate software services exports throughout the year; business process outsourcing (BPO) services continued to be the leading segment within information technology enabled services (ITES) exports. Private limited companies spearheaded software exports during 2025–26, exhibiting a 9.3 per cent expansion.
The United States continued to be the dominant market for software exports, capturing a 54.1 per cent share, trailed by European nations (31.8 per cent), with the United Kingdom holding a significant portion of that market.
India’s software exports predominantly utilized the US dollar as the primary invoicing currency, trailed by the euro, the rupee, and the pound sterling. Software services exports were largely facilitated via the off-site model, accounting for a 91.7 per cent share.
Total software export services, incorporating services rendered by foreign affiliates of Indian enterprises, registered a 9.5 per cent rise during 2025-26, culminating at US$ 239.3 billion. The domestic software business facilitated by foreign affiliates of Indian companies ascended to US$ 17.9 billion in 2025-26, compared to US$ 13.9 billion in the preceding year, with the USA and the UK maintaining their status as principal destinations.
