Currency in circulation on the uptrend

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) indicated that currency in circulation increased 0.90% on a bi-fortnightly basis, reaching Rs 43.46 lakh crore as of October 15, 2026. The central bank also noted that aggregate reserve money advanced 0.9% during the same interval to Rs 53.24 lakh crore. Currency in circulation demonstrated a 13.5% expansion compared to the prior year, contrasting with an 8.8% rise recorded in the corresponding period last year. To date in the current fiscal year, currency in circulation has risen 4.3% while reserve money has gained by 4.2%.
