NIFTY remains flat, Nifty FMCG emerges as a stock to watch

The key equity barometers traded with minor losses in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 24083-24010. Nifty FMCG, Nifty Media and Nifty Metal shares gained, while Nifty Realty and Nifty Healthcare Index shares declined.

At 10:45 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, up 81.39 points to 77,038.66. The Nifty 50 index lost 11.85 points or 0.05% to 24,068.55.

The broader market lagged behind the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index inched down 0.22% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index added 0.23%.

The market breadth was fragile. On the BSE, 2182 shares advanced and 2341 shares fell. A total of 285 shares were unchanged.

Nifty FMCG index moved higher by 0.80% to 46392. The index has fallen 6.30% in last one month and slumped 18.07% over last one year. ITC, inching higher 2.75%, led the gainers followed by Radico Khaitan, adding 0.76% and Emami, edging up 0.69%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 9 are reporting gains today.

Nifty Media index edged higher by 0.75% to 1569. The index has eased by 3.79% in last one month and edged lower by 3.08% over last one year. Netwrk.18 Media, gaining 4.11%, led the gainers followed by Zee Entertainmen, up 2.30% and PVR Inox, adding 1.84%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 4 are reporting gains today.

Nifty Realty index fell 1.63%. The index has moved higher by 0.30% in last one month and posted modest gains of 2.77% over last one year. Lodha Developers, slipping 2.76%, led the losers followed by Prestige Estates, easing 2.25% and Anant Raj, down 1.80%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 8 are reporting loss today.

Out of 14 sectoral indices on NSE, 8 are in red today. Nifty FMCG index has recorded steep losses of 6.30% in last one month and is sharply lower by 18.07% over last year. Nifty Realty index is modestly higher by 0.30% in last one month and is marginally higher by 2.77% over last one year.

From NIFTY50 index, Vodafone Idea, Ola Electric AND JP Power Ven. are leading in terms of volumes today, clocking turnover of 1276.77 lakh shares, 1447.86 lakh shares and 319.1 lakh shares respectively.

Asian markets posted modest losses on Tuesday. China’s Shanghai composite is up 0.13%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading lower by 1.08%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is marginally lower by 0.16%.

NIFTY50 Sep-26 futures are in discount of 143.45 points today.
